Pitstop in Mackay, Qld

Sometimes during our travels, things go a little bit wrong. And usually, there lies good entertainment value in this for the folks at home. This time, we came from Heron Island and had to drive 443 km to get to Mackay, our next destination. We had already arranged some accommodation in a caravan park halfway because we don't like to drive at night with all the animals crossing the road - too dangerous and we didn't reduce our excess to an acceptable amount. Ok... so we got to the park and guess what: it was a dirty, old trailer infested with cockroaches and other insects and vermints. Yuk! It really wasn't sanitary and we had no idea what would crawl into our beds at night. So we decided to "gun" the Yaris further through the dark dark night. Luckily, the owners refunded us the money AND we got in Mackay in one piece (except for the "bug" cemetary on the car that is). Now we could get ready to do some more wildlife spotting. But what wildlife, well, that's for another post. Lots of greetings!
