The Gold Coast, NSW

From sizzling Byron Bay, we traversed upwards to what the Ozzies proudly call: the Gold Coast. A theme-park laden, (Asian) tourist-oriented, stretch of long (nice) beaches with its undisputable capital, Surfer's Paradise. And this is where yours truly ended up staying (however, not without a frantic search for accommodation... man, was this place booked!). The place was very touristy, loud, busy and targeted at spending all of your money on useless tours, items, and of course binge-drinking and eating. Although this seemed to appeal to the masses, we opted for some long beach walks across a very nice beach. Unfortunately, we we didn't do any swimming because of the strong currents and irritating and dangerous jellyfish this time of year (and we were told that up North, things in the water would only get nastier.. yikes!).

After getting some much needed rest and relaxation (R&R), we decided to leave the masses, the high rises, and the shopping malls and exchange them for the less-visited, but o-so beautiful Gold Coast Hinterland (thank you again, i-site lady!). And that's were the real pictures come into play. So check out the next post quickly because we all know what the "El Arenal's" around the world look like :-)
