The (late) Croc Hunter's Australia Zoo, Qld

Crikey!!! After leaving Brisvegas behind we stopped at the late Croc Hunter's (R.I.P.) famous Australia Zoo to get an idea of what the man did besides chasing down crocs and other animals on Animal Planet. The upper pic shows Chel helping the man out a little. But seriously, there was a whole section of the park dedicated to Steve Irwin with message, gifts and condoleances from all over the world. The man was loved and did good things for both Australia's native animals and all the other animals around the world. We got some bracelets to support his Wildlife Warriors program and the Bengal Tigers. You can see that they try to educate visitors with for instance the shows at the Crocoseum about how to treat animals and nature. Guess his legacy lives on stronger than ever, especially in the form of his daughter Bindi.

Now besides this sad but also hopeful note, let's get down to the animals. Now we have a lot of footage of all the animals, but here we wanted to show you guys some of our favorites (which we hope to still encounter in the wild BTW). First up is Taz, the Tasmanian Devil which looks a little bit ugly, has the strongest biting power of any animal its size, and is the only marsupial that eats meat (more info on the Tasmanian Devil in a special feature later on).

Here's Chel kicking some croc ass in between the animal viewing. There were a lot of nice crocs and alligators (they hissed very threathening) which were very cute in a way, except this big boy which Chel had to correct and put back in his enclosure.

Next up, a wallaby, not a baby kangaroo. These guys could room around freely in their own pretty large enclosure. We could really get up close and Sois even managed to pat a big one, while Chel made sure these guys and the bigger kangaroos didn't starve. It was a really great experience, just lying in between all of these kangaroos and wallabies. Of course, there were more animals and things but all the real-life action material is captures on DVD so we owe you those ones. In conclusion, a very nice zoo that caters well to its animals (as far as possible in a zoo) and its visitors. Steve, my boy, you can be proud when looking down!
